Cellulite Q & A

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is fat that lies just under the skin that gives you a dimpled, orange-peel look. It occurs due to the structure of your connective tissue, as the fat pushes up against it to create the puckered look. Even thin people can have cellulite.

You may notice cellulite becomes more prominent as you get older due to changes in your hormones and skin laxity and strength. Cellulite can appear on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, and arms.

What is TempSure Envi?

TempSure Envi technology uses radiofrequency energy to penetrate deep below the surface of your skin to encourage greater production of collagen, a compound that provides your skin with structure and smoothness. You get the look of a facelift without injections, sutures, or surgery.

TempSure Envi can also tighten loose skin on your body, face, and neck. Discuss your areas of concern with Dr. Kennedy, and she can help you determine if TempSure Envi is right for you.

What areas can be treated with TempSure Envi?

TempSure Envi reduces the appearance of:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Smile lines
  • Crow’s feet

The technology is also effective on sagging skin on your lower eyelids and around your neck and jowls, as well as on your abdomen, around your knees, and at the backs of the thighs.

How does TempSure Envi treat cellulite?

Cellulite is difficult to treat, but TempSure Envi radiofrequency technology offers a revolutionary approach. The heat is delivered to specified treatment areas using a specialized wand. The energy penetrates the top layer of your skin to create heat that stimulates the development of collagen, a natural skin-strengthening compound, deep under the surface.

Collagen development can diminish the appearance of cellulite because it can make your skin firmer and more elastic. This means the fat dimpling has a harder time showing through and cellulite is less noticeable.

What makes TempSure Envi unique?

Other devices provide radiofrequency energy, but not with the same intensity as TempSure. TempSure treatments use a higher temperature, making it faster and more effective. Dr. Kennedy can monitor the heat level throughout the procedure so you get consistent results.

Despite this intensity, the treatment is gentle, eliciting just a warming sensation as the energy passes over your skin. It results in minimal side effects, too. While you may have slight redness and/or swelling following a session, these mild effects resolve quickly.

What happens during a TempSure Envi treatment session?

You lie comfortably on an exam table as the technician from the office of Karen E. Kennedy, MD glides the specially designed handpiece over the surface of your skin

The procedure feels like a hot stone massage and takes just about 30 minutes. Most patients find it painless and even pleasant.

How long is a session, and how many treatments will I need?

A session with TempSure Envi usually takes about 20 minutes but varies according to the size of the treatment area. You can even have multiple areas treated in one session. For the best results, plan for about four treatments, each scheduled 2-4 weeks apart.

How many treatments of TempSure Envi will I need to reduce the appearance of cellulite?

Dr. Kennedy evaluates the severity and extent of your cellulite to provide a customized plan for TempSure Envi treatments. Most people benefit from between six and eight total treatments. Each session encourages greater skin tightening and lessens the appearance of cellulite.

How long does it take for me to notice a reduction in cellulite?

After the first few treatments, you’ll start to notice results. You’ll see tighter, tauter, less dimpled skin after your treatment plan is complete. The fat that lies beneath the surface of your skin gradually smooths out and reduces the appearance of cellulite.
